The dangerous of Coke

If you like to drink soft drink (eg. coke, cola, 7up, 100 plus, etc), if you like to eat processed food (eg. sausage, snacks, sweet, chewing gum, etc)

Your chances of getting cancers is higher, but I wont say its higher than the people that dont eat processed foods, because cancers also partly determines by individuals genes, but eating them making you more vulnerable to cancers.

 Lets take a common example:

Lets see what I found on http://blog.fooducate.com/2009/06/30/11-quick-facts-about-phosphoric-acid-yes-that-chemical-in-coca-cola/

==> 6. Phosphoric acid is commonly used for rust removal.

==>8. Phosphoric acid has been linked to lower bone density in some epidemiological
studies, including a discussion in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

==> 10. Aside from the risk of osteoporosis, cola consumption has also been linked to chronic kidney disease and kidney stones.

And then from http://www.livestrong.com/article/468217-why-is-phosphoric-acid-bad-for-you/

~~>General Side Effects:

When phosphoric acid powders are inhaled or come in

contact with skin and other body tissues, it can cause

dermatitis, pain, tearing, blurred vision, difficulty swallowing

or breathing and gastrointestinal problems.

~~>Bones

A study published in the “Archives of Pediatric and
Adolescent Medicine” in 2000 found that athletic teen girls
who consume colas have five times the risk of bone
fractures as those who don’t consume cola drinks.

~~>Teeth
According to a study published in 2007 in “General

Dentistry,” phosphoric acid in soda causes tooth enamel

erosion, even at low levels.

NBA players which I learn from

They are Wesley Matthew in the Portland Trail Blazers and Jrue Holiday in the New Orlean Pelicans, I think they have much more smooth and steady pace in their skills, which I do not need to slow down the video when watching them on the video, they do it with much relax and slower pace but also steady (but they also can do it in faster pace when they need it), especially when they shoot jumpshot and 3 point, not like players like Russel Westbrook and Derrick Rose, they mostly jump fairly high in their shooting, since I am not than explosive and strong, I would prefer a more steady and slower approach which do not require me using too much athleticism (I am still working on strength). My take is, everyone can try out different approaches and then figure out which one suitable for your own style and keep improving.

Stars sky

I like to look at the sky with star at night, it means that the weather must be good, I remember when I was in Kampar, I would cycle at night and look at the sky when the weather was good, I have seen lot of stars in the sky, it was really beautiful, since then on I make looking at sky at night my hobby, I really enjoy it and it was kind of romantical. It makes me feel very relax and indulges me.I think everyone should try to do it once in a while.

Some of my recent workout

Yesterday I did some upperbody work - 4x10 push-up, and 4x4 pull-up, today felt a little sore on my lats, its been quite some time I didnt do push up and pullup, the day before ytd i watched some highlite on Damian Lillard in the NBA, and i was amazed that he got so good strength when shooting long range shots, so i went to do some pushup and pullup, I think it helps on my shooting.

Now my workout included some simple plyometrics as well, they are ankle jump, tuck jump and donkey kick, these are what i learned from Taylor Allen workout video. Those plyo work did help to develop a quicker release and power.

Basketball Shooting System: BEEF vs FOREST

I was just tried out the FOREST, and it really help, I focus on adjust few aspect of my shooting like F finger I want to get my finger and hand more align with the basket on the follow through, and the Dip this one really interesting the more I dip the better the power of the shot, so I just gonna find the right spot the most natural and effective spot to dip, and finally the Sweep and sway, this one is important also, actually most of the time when we see shooter shoot a ball we didnt really focus on their shooting form we mostly look at if the ball goes in the net, unless we really slow down and pay attention to their shoot, and Most of them had Sweep and sway!! The video above have a more detail explaination.

Strength training and explosive training on shooting

Started from last week onward I was involving in explosive training for my vertical jump training, after the 2nd workout session , I found something changed on my shooting.

After the 2nd explosive workout, I found that the release of my shooting was quicker with more force applied on the basketball which I heard a sharp sound when the ball went through the net, I started to realize something change on my body, it was the training that affected my shooting and ... ... I was excited.

It was like discover a new island which never yet exist on current map, it opened up a new world to me. I started realize how some star player like Russell Westbrook in NBA can have a quick jumpshot in their skillset, it is because they jump quicker.

Contrast to strength phase of the vertical training, strength phase made my shooting much slower, which I felt a glue between the ball and my finger.

During strength phase, my body was much slower and feeling heavier, the effect of strength training was like making the ball on my hand weigh 200-300 grams heavier than the original weigh.

In conclusion, personally I prefer the shooting quicker rather than slow, because even if I don't play competitive ball game, the quicker release made me feel I have much smoother and much effective shoot.

Vertical testing

Done some vert test this afternoon:

standing vert: 21/22 inch
running 2 feet: 25/26 inch

this is vert test after VJB intermediate strength template.

I know still got room to improve, I think at least I need 40 or 45 inch for me to dunk, even if it seems like quite a long journey, but I will enjoy the process.

My next training will be focus on explosiveness, I think it is the area I need to improve. So I will be doing some explosive work.

Lastly, I really enjoy the feeling when I get it to the air, when I was young I always imagine I can fly like a bird or I can be like spiderman, (I'm a spidey fan), I want to fly. I like the feeling.

My quest for dunk

I started playing basketball around 16 years old its kind of late for a high school kid and teenage, i started playing basketball on a court nearby my house, I played with the kids around my neighborhood, and quickly I learned some skills of basketball and I like it a lot, besides learning to do jumper shot, lay up.

One day, I was thinking and wanted to dunk like the player in NBA as I watched them in TV. I felt very excited about it cause I was gonna train to dunk, I was very serious and excited, the next day I went to the court in the early morning with my ball I started doing jumping, I jumped I jumped I jumped, I hope that at least I can touch the rim or something but not even the back board, it was quite discouraged indeed, I tried jumping for few more times and my legs felt sore ( back then I didn't know anything about nutrition) and I was upset, thoughts started coming out like "maybe my body is not good for jumping", "most of the dunker was so tall", "I can dunk if only I have at least 6 feet tall", and lot bullshit came out. I gave up. But that fire still somewhere in my heart, I still played basketball here and there.

Until the time when I was in university, I watched a lot youtube video on people dunking playing basketball, then I found dudes teaching people how to dunk, and I was hooked, I realized that there was a scientific and systematic way to get better at jumping and dunking, and the author and creator also had had a hard time in their past they want to dunk but was unable to do it. So the first one I bought was the Jump Manual by Jacob Hiller, he talked about doing every reps with the most explosive as possible. I thought it makes sense, since jumping is an explosive movement, we gotta train the body to be explosive if wanted to jump higher. Another is the Adam Linkenuger he teaches the techniques of jumping, how to stay tall and be aggressive on the last 2 steps of jumping.
But when I started training in weight room in the campus, I was doing the Triphasic training by Cal Dietz, I thought because it was much simple, since the main template only need train 3 times a week, and it works full body in a workout session.

So I have had 1 year plus training under my belt since I started training from 2013, now I am doing the Vertical Jump Bible workout by Kelly Baggett, I have just finished the workout for intermediate strength, I am trying to get few more days rest then I will do my vertical jumping testing. Wish me luck.
